Artist Statement
Art transcends verbal language by allowing the artist to communicate universally. With my art, I can share with others an affirmation of life.
My mother left behind paintings she created. Her art, which stayed with us long after her death, is an extension of herself. My sister, "Delia" was exceptionally talented as well. She had a photographic memory, and the ability to draw vividly what she remembered seeing. Both my mother and sister had manic depression and died by suicide.
The sadness and grief over the loss of their lives, lead me to spend abundant time with nature. The natural world has become my souce of healing to which my art has blossomed.
In 2004 I moved to an area in East Florida, abundant with wildlife. I did volunteer work in St. Augustine's wild life refuge for the opportunity to photograph portraits of animals. I also started taking photographs of birds, while kayaking in the inter-coastal cannel. I transfer the images to canvas using either acrylics or oils. I am a self taught photographer and painter, dedicated to contunually growing and evolving to new levels of awareness through art.
I am a nember of the Flagler County Art League, located in Palm Coast, Florida. I won ribbons at the 2005, Sunday Afternoon with the Artists and the 2006, Art in the Park art shows.
